Karon is the former Artistic Director and Exhibitions Manager at Tubac Center of the Arts in Tubac, AZ and has worked with hundreds of artists, guiding them through their artistic journey.
Emerging and established artists seeking to improve their critical thinking skills, self-assessment techniques, and understanding of the exhibition process are invited to register for this engaging and educational workshop.
Learn the foundational skills in art critique and the curatorial process, enhancing your ability to evaluate artwork critically and engage with the broader artistic community through a simulated juried exhibition experience.
● Day 1: Introduction to Art Critique
Participants will learn to evaluate and critique their own artwork as well as the work of other artists.
● Day 2: Collaborative Curation and Mock Exhibition
Each participant will create a mock exhibition, curating and selecting works from the group.
1. Understanding of Art Critique Elements: Participants will learn the fundamental components of art critique, allowing them to analyze their own works and those of others constructively.
2. Experience in Curation: Through hands-on activities, artists will engage in the evaluation, selection, and arrangement of artworks for a mock exhibition. Develop an understanding of rejection from juried exhibitions.
3. Enhanced Peer Interaction: Participants will foster connections with fellow artists, enhancing their professional network and collaborative opportunities.
